The Commissioner for Conciliation, Mr. P. Hally, has forwarded to Mr. A. Stubbs, Clerk of Awards, a copy of the agreement signed by the parties connected with the butchering dispute at Wangamu for embodiment in the terms of the award by the Court. The agreement affects eleven firm of employers. It provides for the hours of labour being 56 per week, to cease not later than 10 p.m. every Saturday, except in the case of pork butcheis, when work shall cease at 10.30 p.m. Every employer is to fix a schedule of hours for his employees which shall be submitted for the approval of the Union. The minimum rate of wage is to be — 'First shopman £Z per week, second shopman £2 10s, first small goods man £2 10s, hawking carters £2 10s 6d, general hands £2 10s, order carters (year's engagement) £2 per week, second £2 ss, third year £2 10s, casual hands 9s 6d per day, Saturday only 11s, boys under 16, 17s 6d, sixteen and under seventeen £1, seventeen a-nd under eighteen £1 2s 6d, eighteen and under nineteen £1 ss, nineteen and under twenty JBI 7s 6d, twenty and under twenty-one £1 10s, over 21 £1 12s 6d. Provision is made for underrate workmen. The proportion of boys to men employed is not to exceed one boy to every three men or fraction of three men. All employees who are married men, othci than those engaged in a pork butcher's business, shall be allowed meat to an amount not exceeding- 5s per week. The following holidays are to be allowed without stoppage of pay: — New. Year's Day, Good Friday, Eaeter Monday, birthday of the reigning (sovereign, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Anniversary Day, and the day on which the butchers' annual picnicis held.
