Wool Classing:
A very en thusia3tic" meeting to consider the advisability oi' forming classes in connection with the Technical School for instruction in the classing of wool and preparing it for the market, was held in the .Borough Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. The meeting was a representative one, there being present, among others, Messrs. A. Robinson (who was voted to the chair), Higgie, Mannington, C. Burnett, Lilburn, Todd, Taylor, Selby Morton (A. and P. Association), Russell (Farmers' Union), representing the .farming interest, and Messrs Braik, ' Varney, and Grant. Mr Brown, of Levin and Co., who lias taken a great interest in the inauguration of the proposed class, was also present.
All the speakers eulogised the project, and promised to do their utmost to forward the movement. It was unanimously decided, on* the motion of Mr Lilburn. that the meeting adopt the proposal of the Education" Board reVthe formation of the class, and that thosf present give the movement their whole-hearted support.
The following arran2' iemen ts were nttified to the meeting and approved: — Mr McNaught (owing *to the kindness of the Wanganui Freezing Company) will be available as instructor. The class will be held every Wednesday at 3 o'clock in Messrs Levin and Co.'s rooms. Mr C. Burnett very kindly donated 12 assorted fleeces for use at the rirst meeting of the class.
We are glad to find the farmers around Wanganui taking such a keen interest in this matter, and hope that before long we shall have a training school for young farmers in our midst. Eleven names were handed in at the meeting as members of the class.
