At a meeting ot the City Council laat night the Mayor presented the Eoyal Humane Society's medal to T. F. Lester, who behaved in a most courageous manner in attempting to says Mrs Driscoll from burning on October 24th, 1905. Lester found Mrs Driscoll enevolped in flame*. He wrapped her in a sack and tore her burning clothing off with his bare hands. Mts Driscoll died later on, but Lester's bravery in extinguishing the fire, whils himself badly burned, no doubt saved the life of her husband, who was asleep, and valuable property. Lister pre*;ous to this had rescued a boy who had fallen fiom a vessel in pott.
