OPEN-AIR CONCERTS BY THE CITY BAND.

Now that the fine weather has come again and the cold bleak nights have passed the City Brass Band have decided to entertain the residents in various parts of the town with popular and select openair concerts. The first of these will be given to-morrow (Thursday) evening at the corner of Bell and Glasgow Street*), when an hour of delightful music will be given to the people in that locality. The City Band, it may be mentioned, have during the winter months been practising very hard and considerable improvement has been made. It is the intention of the Band to devote two evenings per month during the summer to open-air playing, and every part of the town will be visited besides Aramoho, Gonville, Castlecliff, St. John's Hill, and Durie Hill. It is hoped by these concerts not only to popularise tho Band, but to give pleasure and enjoyment to many who for various reasons cannot go far away from home. No doubt the efforts of tho City Band will be appredated, and we hope to see large numbers present at each of their performances. During the summer Sundays the Band also intend playing once a month at the Hospital and Old Men's Home.
