THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY.

CHRISTCHURCH, September 14. The final round of the New Zealand Golf Championship was played at the Shirley Links between S. H. Gollan (Napier) and W. T. D. Harman (Christchurch) to-day, over a 36-hole course. The weather was dull, but calm, and very satisfactory for good play. At the end of the 18th hole Gollan was six up ;ind he won the championship at the 29th hole by 8 up and 7 to play. Both played a very even long game, but Harman was much weaker than Gollan in his approaching and putting, and lost holes on that account. The first hole was won by Gollan in 5, and the next two were halved ; Gollan won the 4th, and the sth, 6th, and 7th *«c halved; the Bth was won by Gollan, and the 9th was halved; the 10th was won by Gollan, and the 11th and 12th were halved; Gollan won the 13th, and the 14th was halved; ■ the 15th was won by Gollan, and the 16th halved. Harman won his first hole at the 17th, but lost the 18th. The 19th hole was halved in 5, and the 20th halved in 4. Gollan won the 21st by sto 6, and the 22nd by 3to 4; the 23rd was halved in 4, the 24th halved in 4, and the 25th was halved in 7. Gollan won the 26th in 4, and the 2,7 th was halved in 5, the 28th was won by Harman in 3, and the 29th was halved, Gollan thus winning by 8 up and 7 to play. CHRISTCHURCH, September 15. The golf championship meeting closed to-day at Shirley links. A bogey foursome handicap was played this morning, when A. F. Roberts and C. C. Cripps (8) and B. 5. and H. C. Smith (3) tied for first place with 3 up each. The play-off will take place on the Dunedin links, the four playera coming from that town.

In the afternoon a medal handicap was played, the best results being K. Duncan, Wellington (6), 72; S. K. Sleigh, Christchurch (8), 78; D. Gow, Christchurch (6), 78.

The O'Rorke vase was awarded to the Club team of four making the best gross score in the Medal Handicap, and was won by Wellington, 347. Others competing were: Dunedin 357, Chrietchurch A 362, Timaru 376, Christchurch 8377, Chrialr church C 379.
