TIMARU, December 1.
Robert French, a gardener employed at the Mount Nessing Station, committed suicide by cutting his throat, The deceased had -been in ifl-healtTi lately, and it is thought that this prompted '. tho deed.
SUDDEN DEATH.
WHANGAREI, December 1.
During the progress of Mrs Harrison Lee's open-air meeting last night, a man named William Smith, aged 79, suddenly sank to the ground an dexpired.
SUPPOSED DROWNING ACCIDENT.
DUNEDIN, December ' 2:' The police are dragging in the vicinity of Victoria wharf for a man named McDonald, a fireman on the steamer Wakanui. who. is supposed to. have fallen into the harbour when in a. state of intoxication about ten o'clock" last night.
DUNEDIN, December 1.
At the inquest to-day on the body of a man found "in the harbour evidence was given identifying $£>as that of Duncan. McPhorson, a. compositor by trade, wha came over from Sydney about 12 montha ago. He had a brother at Moa Flat. There waa a bruise on the brow, due either to deceased falling or being stunned previous to drowning. The jury returned a verdict of found drowned, -with no evidence to showhow he came into the water.
AUCKLAND, December 2.
At the Supreme. Court, Ernest Wilson was charged with marrying Annie K. Jones in June, 1905, while his wife, Agnes Wilson, nee Meldrum, whom he had married in July, 1904, was living. He waa sentenced to three' years' hard labour.
