Mr Gatenlby's Questioners.

TO THE EDITOR

?ii\ — Through your coin. run I should like to answer lour questions that were put up hist night aiul which uiy chairmru si",;piessed as too personal; had 1 scon them the audience would have hoard my opinion of their r.nthor. First. — Is at true tuat in advertising for a ecrvant you mentioned th.it no Catholics need apply!- Second. — Did you advertise some ycais ago for a servant, adding no Irish need apply? I ■jay "ho," i* is a concocted lie to daJii"^ m<;, but us it is well known that my wife is Irish and proud of her country the lie in useless. I will give £3 to the Hospital and J.s to tlie author of th-cee questions if h-e will produce to you, sir, a newspaper with such an advertisement with my name attached. Third. — Mr Gatenby,* how long have you been a Roman Catholic? I am not a Roman Catholic, I never was one and have no intention of becoming one, Tho reason of this question is obvious, but the person that wiote it cannot ho expected to understand that it is possible to be convinced of the right and justice of any cause- without being personally interested. Fourth. — Is it a fact that you attended a recent sale of work iv the Primitive Methodist Church (a church by the way which you have never previously attended) and bought a large number of articles in order to catcli votes, thus being guilty of bribery? I have attended services at the Primitive Methodist Church. My wife lias attended the sale of work and bought each year and will do so again if she chooses. Tho person who wrote this question would do well to attend himself and try to get his mind purified, as at the present time it must be a sink of iniquity. — I am, etc., R. M. GATENBY. December 1, 1905.

R. M. GATENBY.
