You want boots? Well boots and shoes are selling rapidly at Bird and Gp.'s. The firm is moving next week, and if you really want boots, that is, good boots, at low prices, you should lose 'n'o 'time but look' in before the sale closes. .

Those lovely blooms, frcezias, may be had at Messrs J. Laird and Sons' Avenue shop to-morrow, when. 'lovers of theee sweetly-scented flowers ' will no doubtquickly buy out the stock. , There will also be a large line of the fragrant violet, and considering how scarce flowers are just now, those who wish to .obtain them should make an early call at Messrs Laird's shop.

A most enjoyable entertainment was given under the auspices of the Baptist foung Men's Bible Class last evening,' when there was a. goodly, number present. The "chairman. Mr J. H. Harper, in an introductory speech, emphasised the great importance of Bible Classes as a branch■>f a Church's organisation and extended a cordial invitation to any young: men, aot attending any such class, even though they be antagonistic to the Bible. In fact, these were they Whom they wanted more particularly to attend.* We were all on common ground in searching after, the deeper truths of life. A prophetic machine, known as the "funnygraph," proved very amusing. The main item was a reoresentation,, by members "of. the Bible Class, of the famous special meeting of -he Harbour Board which discussed Field's scheme. It was an exceedingly clever imitation, for which Mr James Harper, more particularly,^ is entitled to every praise. Messrs Dewdney, Bell, Oliver, and Carrad \lso contributed towards the programme.

On holding a post mortem examination on four cows, belonging to a farmer at Aorangi, on Monday last, Mr Burton, vcteronary surgeon, found the cause of death was due to the animals eating leaden tea packet^, which had been left about. Another dead cow, belonging to Mr Milson, Feilding, on being examined w?s found to be full of gravel, staples, and. scraps of various articles.
