EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB.
Annual Dinner.
The annual dinner of the Egmont-Wan-ganui Hunt Club was held in the Rutland Hotel last evening, and proved one of the most enjoyable evenings ever spent by the hunting fraternity and their friends. Over srixty, including a large number of ladies, sat down to a. most sumptuous dinner provided by Host Faber in his best style. The tables, were prettily decorated with flowers and ferns intermingled with the colours 'of tho Club.
-Mr J. H. Nixon, vice-President of tho Club, occupied the chair, and was supported on his right by Messrs Win. Brewer and Alex. Higgie, whilst on his left were Mesdames Wm. Brewer, A. Higgie, and A. Sutherland. Toast 3 "The King" and "Our Farmer Friends," were proposed by the Chairman, the latter toast being coupled with the names of Messrs Wm. Brewer, Oscar Symes, G. F. Moore, and J. Blair, who each responded in a few well chosen words. "Sister Clubs" waa proposed by Mr Wm. Brewer, coupled with the names of Mr A. Piper, Master of Woodlands Hunt Club, Mr A. Cameron, deputy-mas-ter, Rangitikei Hunt Club, and Messrs Donnelly and Groome, of the Hawke's Bay Hunt Club. > Mr A. Cameron, in a neat little speech, proposed the toast of the Egmont-Wanga-nui Hunt Club, which was suitably responded to by Messrs S. Morton, J. Blair, J. H. Nixon, and H. M. Speed. The toast of "The Ladie3" Avas in the able hands of Mr J.-H. Nixon and was responded to by Messrs J. G. Woon, Selby Morton, J. Blair, C. Campion, and C. Russell, all of whom spoke in high terms of. the fair sex, despite their nervousness on such a subject. ' During the evening songs by Mrs A. Sutherland, Dr Graham, Mr T. Rapley, and recitations by Messrs J. G. Swan and A. R. Holdship helped to the success of the evening's enjoyment, whilst Mr Harry Duigan, with his mirth-prdvoking comic songs, concluded a most enjoyable evening. "
