The match Qhrist Church v. Regina, was played 'on Viptoria ,Park on a. slow wicket, which* cut up badly. Christ Church captain, Dodgsbun, won the toss and by' so doing got the advantage of the wicket, which played true at first. None of the batsmen,' however, could negotiate Carrad and Howden, Banks, a hard-hitting 13, being the only double^ The Reginab could do little better, ' owing principally to badly, judged ajinning between the wickets, four of their- best batsmen failing in this manner, t'rancis (21) 'and Carrad (13) however, showed good form. The second innings of Christ Church started well. Both Dodgshun and Peako going veary Btrrong-, caused a. double oli£Wg^ in. tne bowling. Tla©' remaining batsmen, however, did nothing against Howden and Saunders. The latter's success (5 for v 0) is particularly gratifying, as it adds another player regaining his form to "the team's strength. After Naylor had been bowled by Delves and Howarth run rout after a nice 13 Howden and Carrad hit off the few runs required, and the 'match ended in a win for *the Reginas by eight, wickets., The Christ Church Club have the makings of a fairly good team. Their fielding was . decidedly, better than that of tlioir opponents, and were it not for the fact that' the majority of tHeir batsmen apv peared to be thoroughly incapable of nlayins; -'break bowlin?, -the result might nave been reversed. Pritchaxd and Cunningham appeared to have been kept on too loutj in first innings of the Rejrinas. This, however, is possibly purely a matterof opinion. ■■Christ Clmrch were de-privod of the batting of Banks in the second innings owing tp that player putting his knee out whilst batting in the first innings.
