ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
- (Par United Press Association ) AUCKLAND, November 25. Alexander Ferguson, carpenter, "fell 10ft 'from a lift in the Post Office today, sustaining severe concussion of the brain.
A peculiar accident happened recently to a butcher named J. L. Searle, of Reedy Creek (states the Melbourne Age). Mr Searle was upset from his cart into a quagmire near his house-, the force of the fall embedding his head in the mud, and having the weight of the cart upon him he could not move. The occurrence was luckily noticed by his son, who, after unfastening the horse, extricated his father from his awkward and dangerous condition, being nearly smothered. On medical aid arriving it was found that several ribs were broken, and other internal injuries sustained. Mr- Searle, who is 60 years of age, must have been Buffocated if .timely assistance hod not been rendered.
