HAIMONA HIROTI.
TO THE EDITOH.
Sm, — Neither you nor your contemporary aie quite right about the above named old native cbwf, Shakespeaie says (Romeo and Juliet, act 2, so. 2) " What's in a name 1" etc. Not much perhaps ; yet it ia as well io b» correct when discussing whether the old Maori warrior of bye-gone days m Wanganui is dead or alive. What the old fellow's Maori name is I cannot say, but his baptised name is Haimona Hirott, not Horofci, as you have it. .lii'jlicc Simon Zelotes. There are (or were) hundreds of Maoris baptised Simon (Haimona) and Simon Peter by the missionaries, but tho old chief to whom so much attention is just now drawn is the only native within my knowledge who was baptised Simon Zelotes! Apologising for troubling you with what may be considered a trifling matter I am, etc., J. G. Woon.
