WANGANUI. REGATTA.

| The liQavy rain that fell. between. 3 and 4 yesterday afternoon* completely spoiled | tho pleasure of the' Regatta', aiulagootl nuttibdt of the public Bad to suffer the discomfiture of a wet skin. All the rowing events were got off except (he Senior Pairs, which did not eventuate owing Jbo the Aramo'ho Club's boat not having arrived. The latter club was also at a disadvantage in the Senior Fours (oatrig) in the matter of a boat, their outrigger having its back broken. Their decided win in the Senior Clinkers emphasized the fact that had they had a better boat iv the outrigger race the resnlt would have been different. The contest between the Collegiate School and the W.B.C.'s was somewhat of a surprise, the boys bejpg outolasaed. „Tho U.BiCl. <eutry m ifcliij junior butrigger.raca pulled well together, and the win was well deserved. The senior fours (clinker) was an easy win for the Aramalio crew, who passed the post five or six lengths ahead of the other two entries, -who fought hard for second place. '- Tho ladies' race was an interesting event, and well contested, Miss Keegan ptoving ' that, like her brothers, she is a good exponent of the rowing art. Only three of the canoe raaes eventuated the heavy downpour of rain rendering it necessary to postpone the remainder of these interesting events. In the unavoidable absence of Mr W. Montgomery, Mr T. Allison,'an old Wanganui oarsman, officiated as umpire and referee. Afternoon tea was dispensed at tbe Aramoho shed by the ladies associated with the Club, and they were kept busy during the afternoon, the drenched oarsmen particularly relishing the warm beverages supplied.
