Smoke Concert.
The visiting oargnten vrdre entertained at a smoke cdnoert last (Thursday) evening at the Metropolitan Hotel, when there was a large" attendance of rowing* tfletlj Mr C. V. Powell (President of the looal Begatta Association) in the chair. An enjoyable evening was passed, the Hours being spent in proposing and respjncjiritj to toasts, which were intgrfip'tirßed .witn songs, recitations, eh. The toasts in- - eluded " New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association," proposed by TMLc Orford, and" • acknowledged by Mr D. MoFavlane;."The Visitors," proposed by the chairman, and responded to by Mr A. -MeAlpine (Wellington Rowing Club) and Mr - Cox (Wellington Stars); "The Beg'atta . Committee," proposed by Me McAlpine, responded to by Mr T. Ferty; " THe - Press," proposed by My Orford, responded' ; to by Mr Jones (Hebauj) ; " The Coxs- ywains," proposed by the chairman, " The r '"_ Ladies," proposed by Mr Johnston," and J ) ' acknowledged by Mr Le Cren. The pro-, ceedings were brought to a close by the '" company singing " Auld Lang Syne." ' " -
