+. i (Per United Press Assocition.) Auckc&nd, October 24, A fire occurred yesterday afternoon at Mason's, perfumes boad, Lome Street. Two bors were locked in under the Customs regulations, Nathan Sharp and George Simpson, under 15 years, who were filling bottles with perfumes when the straw took fire. The Customs officer was temporarily •bient at another bond. Chatfleld, dentist, hearing tbe boys outories got an axe and broke in tho door just in time to save the boys, ■sho were standing in terror in the apartment, nearly suffocated with smoke. In the mosutimo Mason had sent for the Customs officer to get the keys to open the place. 5000 gallons of perfuraas, spirits of wine and methylated spirits were in bond, and if the fire had got to the stook a fearful expiation would probably have destroyed the buildiugs. Mason at tbe outlet flooded the floors with water as a precautioß. The stook was damaged to the extent of £100, and was insured for about £700 in the South British.
