City Warehouses and Residences Flooded. Petone Tinder Water(Per United Press Association.) Weihngton, October 24. The rain fall between 7 and 8 o'clock last night >Tas l'2O inches, whioh is the heaviest hue one reoorded during the last 82 year 3. The iei:ord fall occurred some years ago, when two inches fell ia an bour and a half, Last night's stotm was aoverely felt at the Hutt and Petone, where tho main streets were all under water. A consider' r.ble amount of damage wag done in the city, warehouses, business premises, and private residences being flooded owing to the volume of water being so great that it could not find a sufficiently speedy outlet either from roofs or through diains.
