Tbe shareholders of the Midland Bailway Company of New Zealand have requested the Beceiver to raise rmffioient money to pay the Colonial Government, and proceed with the directors' scheme for carrying on the works, so as to prevent foreclosure, (Per United Press Association.) The cable mestsg* published to-day with reference to the Midland Bailway prob&bly refers to the claim sent in by Government for repayment of the expenditure on the line for the half year dating from the 29th February lost. The accounts are tendered every six months, and must be paid by the company to prevent absoluto foreclosure. The Company, however, cannot resume poisessiion of the line without the ooncurrence of Government. The latter part of the cable message refers to some proposals which were made by the Direotors to Government, but were sot entertained. The Fiißhion Book and General Drapery and House Furnishing Catalogue issued by the D 1.0., Wellington, is now in the hands of the printer.
