The Passion. Play To-night , Wo had the pleasure last (Wednesday) : evening of participating in a private view of ] the beautiful hand-painted pictures whioh ; form suoh a deoided adjunct to the leoture to be delivered this evening by Mr Walter Bentley on the far-famed Passion Play. < Without doubt it may be averred that the . [ pictures speak eloquently for themselves; \ and without further particularising it may i bs added that those who elect to attend at i ' the Oddfellows' Hall to-night have a rare ' treat in store. Apart from the pictures, Mr ' Bentley, who has made a thorough study of ' this, the only miraole play iv the < world, will give a graphic description of the performance at Ober-Ammagau, and from a thorough knowledge of ' his elocutionary ability, this alone should . be well worth listening to. As a means of i breaking any monotony that might be con- ' 1 sidered by some of the audisnoe, a nnmber > of allegoroial tableaux will be\ introduced ' i in the second part, with explanatory address : br Mr Bentley, and this together with tha ■ ; Passion Play should prove most interesting '. alike to young and old "of both sexes. We . may add that a number of excellent vooal ' selections incidental to the Play will be contributed by Miss M. Best and instrut Mental pieces will be given by Miss Bvelyn , Price, whilst the organ and violin obligate , will be respectively supplied by Miss Willis , and Mr Beok. I?or the convenience of those attending , the play from outside tho town, it may be , mentioned that arrangements have been i made for late buses to Aramoho and trains . to Castlecliff.
