At a bankruptcy sitting to-day, Judge Johnston questioned the locus siandi of the Official Assignee, saying it was doubtful whether he could examine bankrupts, but gave no decision on the point, and agreed to receive suggestions from the assignee in the course of examination.
At the Harbor Board meeting to-day it was reported that to carry out the erection of the necessary wharfage, dredging, &c, at Dunedin, to accommodate the Union Company's steamers, if brought up as proposed, would c05t£49,476. Some discussion occurred on a motion to prepare plans and specifications for the whole works, but eventually it was agreed only to prepare plans for the pro- 1 posed wharfage in the meantime, the estimated cost being £12,800.
An Accident Insurance Company, with its head-quarters in Dunedin, and a capital of £100,000, is proposed to be floated.

The weather is fine for the Interprovincial Cricket Match, Canterbury v. Otago. Canterbury won the toss and sent the Otago men to the wickets, and they have lost 2 wickets for 43 runs.
