EXPEDITION TO WAIROA.

We published yesterday evening an account received from some of Kemp's men who came into town yesterday. We have received further particulars of the expedition to Wairoa. On Wednesday morningl, at 6 o'clock, the following left Wereroa:—2s men. No 1 A.C., Arawas 30, Kemp's men 60. The Arawas and Armed Constabulary were under the command of SubInspector Swindley, who was really in command of the expedition. The force arrived at Putahi yesterday at dny-break, but found no traces of the enemy. There was plenty of potatoes, which shows the Hau haus to be in not such a bad state as was represented. The force was to have marched last night at 12 o'clock for Okutuku, and in all probability will not return t.o head-quarters without finding out where the enemy, is located. The rivers are still much swollen after the late rains. It is a general impression prevailing in the force that if small parties, such as the Wairoa party, were to roam about the country, and not have any fixed camp, it would be much better than disheartening- the men by useless redoubt building. Parties of 100 strong, radiating in many directions, would soon destroy the greater portion of the plantations.
