Prince Constantin Cantacuzene, of Rumania, aged 27, flying a Caudron Renault machine with a top speed of 237 miles an hour, and a radius of 3700 miles, departed from Hatfield in an attempt on the England-Johannesburg and the England-Cape Town records.
