PETERSEN DEFEATED. (Received Tuesday, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, Monday. In the British and Empire heavyAveight championship bout at Leicester, Ben Foord (South Africa) defeated the. holder, Jack Petersen, the referee stopping the fight in the third round. Foord attacked strongly in the second round. He sent Petersen doAvn for a count of seven in the third round, and felled him immediately aftenvards for a count of three. Then he hit him almost as he pleased.

The Wairarapa Boxing Association has been advised that Kid Reekie, the: Australian boxer, Avill arrive in Masterton on Thursday and Avill have his final Avork-out in the Dixon Street gym. Reekie has a list of knock-out performances to his credit, his last being Avlien he outed Brooks, of Christchurch in just 70 seconds. He Avill find Wilson a much stiffer proposition, and Avill be fully extended to get a decision OA'er the redoubtable “Jock.” He has signed up to meet Joe Hall on Ist September, at Christchurch.
