LIVE STOCK EMBARGO

RESTRICTIONS TO CONTINUE. The intention of the Government to maintain the embargo against the direct importation of live stock from Great Britain into New Zealand is reaffirmed in a letter received by the. New Zealand Farmers’ Union, from the Minister of Agriculture, 1-lon. W. Lee Martin. At the recent conference of the union the delegates carried a remit protesting against the lifting of the embargo on direct importation of live stock from any country known to be infected with foot-and-mouth disease. “I desire to state,” says the Minister, "that there is no intention on the part of the Government to modify or revoke the existing restrictions imposed on the direct importation of stock from such countries. ’ ’
