WOOL MARKET

WANGANUI SALE. WANGANUI, Thursday. With tho exception of lambs wool, which was notably easier, prices at to-night’s Wanganui avool sale, the second of tho current series in this centre, were fully up to ruling market levels. In some cases coarser avools shoAved slight improvement. There Avas a full bench of buyers, and competition for tho better types of Avell-groAvn avools AA-as very keen at current prices. It Avas noticeable in the early part of the sale that the Continent was bidding more keenly than usual, and it Avas that factor Avhicli led to firmer prices for bush avools. Bradford was in tho market for its usual quota, and local mills competed strongly, especially for pieces. A great deal of the good and medium crossbred aa'ools Avcnt to Bradford, and Germany Avas bidding to some extent.

A pleasing feature of the sale Avas the more pronounced participation of buyers operating on behalf of German}'. This section of the trade has been practically absent from the recent round of sales, but to-night practically every German firm in the Dominion aa'us in the market to some 1 extent.

Canada and Japan bought freely, and France Avas in the market for better quality bellies and pieces. Italy and Belgium also Avere in the market to some extent. 1

It was obvious, however, that all sections of the trade were operating on defined limits, and the indications are that there will be no pronounced appreciation in values during the current season. —(PA.)
