BUTTERFLY PARASITES
SUPPLY FOR WAIRARAPA. According to a letter received at today’s meeting of tlie Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union from Mr J. Muggeridge, entomologist at Palmerston North of the Department of Agriculture,, supplies of parasites to combat the white butterfly menace are to be available for distribution in the Wairarapa during the coming season. The letter was in reply to an enquiry made bv the secretary, Mr Watson, in order to make sure the district was not overlooked. < < We are at present rearing large supplies of parasites for distribution during the coming season, and it is anticipated that a portion of these will be 1 available for distribution in your loealitv,” states Mr Muggeridge in Ins reply. * ‘ ‘ The work of distributing the parasites in your district will most likely be undertaken by the Fields Instructor, Department of Agriculture, Masterton, and your enquiry is accordingly being referred to him. ’ ’ On the motion of the chairman, Mr H. Morrison, the secretary was instructed to get into touch with Mr S., Freeman, with a view to ensuring a supply for the district. Mr Morrison observed that the white butterfly menace was becoming a very serious matter.
