FOUR NEW SCHOLARSHIPS. The Government has received by cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London an announcement to the effect that the trustees of the Lady Tata Memorial ha v <> decided to offer four new scholarships to candidates from the British Empire worth £4OO per annum each, in addition to four awarded in June, 1933, for research into diseases of the blood, with special reference to leucaemia. The scholarships are to be available for one year from Ist October, 1934, but will be renewable up to a normal maximum tenure of three years. The scholarships are availabl? to either male or female doctors, and, although they are ordinarily awarded on a whole-time basis, candidates •my hold part-time teaching posts if in the opinion of the trustees these duties will not prevent the scholarship holders from devoting their chief interest to the research work. The scholarships will be open for award in June next.
