LONDON SALES. PRICES DOWN. LONDON, Tuesday. Offerings at the opening of the wool sales to-day were 9027 bales, including 3301 bales New Zealand. Approximately 4110 bales were sold. There was a poor selection of Merinos, but a good lot of crossbreds. The sales attracted a large attendance of buyers. The Home trade was competing freely, but Continental buying was done rather sparingly. As compared with the February sales closing rates, greasy Merinos at . this sale were 5 per cent lower; medium and coarse crossbreds 74 per cent to 10 per cent down. t , , Realisations included New Zealand greasy Merinos, Birch Hill, highest 94d, average 9d; greasy, halfbred, ‘ Ngaio Downs,* 5 highest 9id, average 9d. SYDNEY SALES. PRICES FIRM. SYDNEY, Wednesday. At the wool sales to-dav, 10.097 bales were offered, 8438 being sold at. auction and 123 S bales were sold privately.^ The market was very firm. Yorkshire, German and Japanese buyers were the principal operators. Greasy Merino made up to 141 d.
