COSy THEATRE. REBECCA OF SFNXYBKOOK FARM Lavishness of production in both locale and settings is promised in “Rebecca of Sunnvbrook Farm,” •which is showing at the Cosy Theatre to-night. Based on a * story by Kate Douglas Wig-gin and Charlotte Thompson, the picture was filmed on a specially reconstructed Sunnybrook Farm, near Santa Cruz, California, with the reproduction of a New England blizzard in which the dramatic climax occurs. The featured players in this Fox production are Marian Nixon and Ralph Bellamy. The choice of dainty, wistful, appealing Miss Nixon and tall, handsome Bellamy to enact the leading roles in this important picture came, it is said, as a reward fo-r splendid work in recent successes. Briefly, the story unfolds the main adventures of Rebecca, as immortalised in the book, revolving around her intense desire to win the regard of her spinster aunts: her interest in obtaining a wodding ring for the unwed mother of Jack-O-Lantern,- and her romance with Dr. Adam Ladd. Mae Marsh, as Aunt Jane, and Louise Closser ITale, as Aunt Miranda, portray the aged spinster aunts of Rebecca. There is a strong supporting cast. Seats may be reserved at Theatre, ’phone 1288.

THE REGENT. “LUCKY GIRL” AND “ENGLAND AWAKE. •’ ? An all-British programme is to be shown at the Regent Theatre to-night. In “Lucky Girl,” Dene Gerrard makes riotous merriment. The adventures of Karaslavia’s King, Stephan GrCgorovitch, and Hudson E. Greener, Efficiency Expert, during their efforts to dispose of the Crown jewels, are the theme of the picture. Once in England the worthy couple, who unknown to themselves, closely resemble a pair of notorious crooks, are invited to a duke’s country mansion by a war-time acquaintance, where the king falls in love with his host’s daughter, Moira. Extraordinary complications follow, but eventually all ends well, with a wealthy syndicate buying up Ivaraslavia for a dirt track, and Moira and Stephan off to seek happiness together. Superb settings include a beautiful Japanese garden, a baronial halj, and various state apartments. Gus MeXaughton, Molly Lamont, Hal 'Gordon, Tonic Bruce and Spencer Trevor all play important parts. “England Awake” surveys in superb scenes the development of the Empire during the past century. It covers '.-very phase, from the pioneering of Australia and Canada to the huge industrial achievements of England to-day. Seats may be reserved at Theatre, 'phone 2303.
