TERRIFIC STRUGGLE
AGAINST PIERCE STORMS. BARQUE’S TRYING TIME. (Received Tuesday, 9.20 a.m.) ADELAIDE, This Day. After a terrific struggle against fierce storms and being at the mercy of the wind and current for eighteen days, the dismasted Finnish barque, Hougomont, with twenty-four men aboard, ancrored about seven miles from Semaphore The voyage from London lasted 129 days. The storm which disabled the vessel occurred on 20th April, when 540 miles from Cape Borda. The storm, recording to the captain, was of indescribable fury, the worst he had over encountered. The vessel was swept from end to end.
