BLOW TO JESUITS ORDER BANNED. Press Assail, ilju Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, Monday. “The Times” Madrid correspondent states that the decree issued by the President dissolving the Jesuit Order in Spain involves SO communities and 3000 members.
It will become effective on February 3rd, forbids community life, and confiscates property for charitable and teaching purposes. STATEMENT BY POPE. ROME, Monday. “It is a veritable massacre,” said the Pope, referring to the dissolution of the Spanish Jesuits. “However, there is something supremely beautiful and glorious in these sad happenings. “It is consoling for them to think they will now be called not only confessors but martyrs,” he concluded.
