When a deputation representing the Wellington Federation of educational Associations waited upon him yesterday the Minister said that if the grant were made in Wellington he would have to restore those made in other districts, which ■would involve an annual commitment of about £3500.

As a sequel to the Edendale bank sensation, Maurice Patrick Duft'ev, married, aged 27, was charged at the Invercargill Police Court yesterday with breaking and .entering the dwelling of Robert Archibald by night with intent to commit a‘ crime. William Leonard Brewer, single, aged 2-1, was similarly charged, also with stealing a bag containing £847, the property of the Ocean Beach Freezing Company. The latter charge was also preferred against Thomas Harold Brewer, married, aged 33. Bemands for one week were granted. Counsel for Thomas Brewer applied for bail, which was fixed at £IOOO self, and a surety for a similar amount.

The dividend for the previous year was SA percent., as compared with 10 per cent, for 1929. The past spring and the current summer have proved prolific breeding seasons for rabbits in the Wanganui district.
