BOWLING
MUTRIE CUP. WIN EOR HOLDERS. A large number of bowlers were present yesterday afternoon, at the Masterton Club’s green, to witness a match for the above Cup. The holders are J. C. Ewington and E. W. Nielsen (s), of the Masterton Club, and the challengers were H. Carr and Kilgour (s), of the Park Club. The early part of the game was interesting, and on the seventh head the scores were: Park 10, Masterton 4. On the tenth head, Masterton were in the lead, scoring 10 points in the eighth, ninth and tenth heads. On the eleventh head, Park scored 3 points, the board then showing: Masterton 14, Park 13.
“13“ then turned out an unlucky number for the Park, as they remained on the number for six consecutive heads, while their opponents put on 12 points, the score at the 17th head being: Masterton 26, Park 13. On the next head, Park scored one, but on the 19th head, Masterton put on 4 points, the board then showing: Masterton 30, Park 14. The final scores were: Masterton 32, Park 15.
