OBITUARY.
MR R. B. CHUROH. The death occurred in Masterton yesterday of Mr Robert Bradfield Church, a very old resident of this town, at the age of 74 years. The late Mr Church, who was well known in the district, and was held in the highest esteem, arrived in New Zealand in the sailing ship Hudson in 1879. He took up his residence at Carterton, where he remained for about some years before coming to Masterton. Mr Church had resided for 35 years in Masterton, and took a very keen interest in fire brigade affairs. He was also a life member of the Orange Lodge. P-inee his retirement from the carrying business, with which he was connected for many years, Mr Church had acted as secretary of the Drivers’ and Butchers’ Unions. His wife predeceased him some years ago, and a family of five daughters and one son are left, to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended. The funeral will leave the residence, 112 Bannister street, to-morrow (Tuesday)) at 2 p.m.
