At the annual meeting of the Lans-doAA-ne branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — President, Mrs MaAvley; secretary, Mrs J. Miller; collectors, Mesdames Ackerman and Kilgour, Misses Dakin and Hummer.

At Saturday’s meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, at Carterton, a letter Avas read from Mr W. HoAvard Booth Avho, Avith Mrs and Miss Booth, is Adsiting the Old Country. At the Avriting, they had taken a flat in. London and, to use Mr Booth’s Avords, “Avere cpiite at home.” He enumerated the A r arious places visited and mentioned that he had called at the Dairy Control Board’s offices and had met Messrs. T. Dayrymple, of Bulls, chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, a life member of the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and a prominent member of other institutions and local bodies, Avi 11 bo leaA r ing shortly on a game hunting expedition, the scene .of his activities this time being Alaska. Mr Dalrymple has a fine collection of trophies of the hunt, and hopes to add to it in the three months he Avill be aAvay. The many friends of Mr C. T. Elers, native agent and interpreter, Te Ore Ore, Avill learn with deep regret of the death of his Avife which occurred yesterday. ' The late Mrs Meri Elers, Avho AA’as 75 years of age, Avas very well knoAvn throughout the Wairarapa. She is survived by two sons, a brother, twenty-two grand-children and nine great grandchildren. Deceased was the granddaughter of the late Retemana Te Korou, the first chief Avho joined the European forces against the Hau Haus. The funeral took place to-day, leaving the residence, Te Ore Ore, at 2.30 p.m.for the Masterton Cemetery. At the meeting of the Wairarapa branch of-the South African War Veterans’ Association the following officers AA’ere elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr E. J. Wright; executive, Messrs. R. M. Miller, H. M. Boddington, R. Beattie; hon. auditor, Mr H. M. Boddington; hon. secretary, Mr F. Norris A visiting committee was appointed and it AA’as agreed that representattees in other towns in the Wairarapa should be the same as last year. Three new members joined and Mr A. E. Cox Avas made an honorary member.

Bone (Bulls); fat sheep, Mr W. G. Vickers (Levin); fat lambs, Mr K. W. Deighton (Marton); butter, Mr C. H. Andrews (Wellington); dairy produce, Dairy Division; school gardens, Mr A. R. Hadfield (Bulls); weeds and grasses, Mr A. T. P. Hubbard (Masterton); drawing, etc., Mr L. J. Watkins (Wellington) ; writing, Mr T. Kane (Wellington); essays, Mr F. Irvine Smith (Wellington). At Holy Trinity Church, Gisborne, on Wednesday, the wedding was celebrated of Maude, eldest daughter of Mr W. R. and tEe late Mrs Barker, to Maurice, second son of Mr and the late Mrs James Brownlie, of Wairoa. The bridegroom was the noted All Black footballer, and was captain of the All Black team that visited South Africa a few years ago. The bride, who was escorted by. her father, .wore a frock of ivory satin beaute, .made with-hip-voke outlined with rows of crystal beads and- a full flared skirt which fell to the ankles. Her bouquet was of white roses and pink carnations. The bridesmaids—Misses A. Barker (chief), cousin of the bride, M. Sherratt, and E. and F. Brownlie, sisters of the bridegroom, wore graceful gowns of ivory moire satin faille, made with full skirts, cut high in front, and falling ankle length at the back. Mr Cyril Brownlie was his brother’s best man, and Messrs.. D. MeCorkindale (Napier), W. D. Barker (brother of the bride), and J. G. Nolan (cousin of the bride) were groomsmen.
