BRITISH SQUADRON.

AT CONSTANTINOPLE. RUGBY, Monday

A British naval squadron, the battleship Queen Elizabeth, is at present visiting Constantinople, under the command of Admiral Sir Frederick Field, Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet.

This is the first occasion since peace was signed between Britain and Turkey that a British fleet has anchored in Turkish waters, and its reception has been marked by the greatest cordiality-.

During the squadron’s visit Turkish officers and public are inspecting the lyarships and a long programme of festivities has been arranged.

Last night the British Ambassador, Sir George Clerk, and Admiral Field, left Constantinople for Angora to visit the President of the Republic, Mustapha Kemal Pasha. —8.0. W.
