FLIGHT TO EUROPE.

Mrs Grayson left Roosvclt Field yesterday afternoon in the airplane “'The Dawn’’ for Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, the first leg of a flight to Europe. She is accompanied by Oskar Omdah as pilot and Bruce Goldsbrougli as navigator. “The Dawn" was due at llarbour Grace at 7 o’clock this morning. But is still unrcpoi'tcd. -She carried a oi'cw of four, and Frank Koehler, mechanic. —'(A.P.A. and ,Suu). AEROPLANE OVERDUE. NEW YORK. Monday. The dirigible Los Angeles has been ordered to leave New Jersey flying field to-day to tour the New England ■waters in an attempt to find a trace of Mrs Grayson’s airplane. There was an unconfirmed report that distress signals were, heard from the airplane at Sable Island, Nova Scotia. The alleged message merely said that there was something wrong, but gave no location, and storm interference prevented continued communication. The Coastguard headquarters at Washington have ordered a search of the area within 500“ miles of Cape Cod. SYDNEY TO NEW ZEALAND. lIOOD-TfOXCRIEFF FLIGHT. TI DL BOURNE, Tuesday. Though the strictest secrecy is being observed with regard to the flight, there are indications that Licuts. Tlonerieff and Knight may leave Point Cook where their machine, a 'Ryan monoplane, has been assembled, for Sydney 10-morrow, and that there is a likelihood of their hopping off from Sydney to New Zealand without fuss or ceremony at the week-end. MeNieol, trustee of the Tasman flight fund, states that it was the intention of the aviators when they left this country to endeavour to strike the New Zealand coast at New Plymouth, taking Mount Eginont us their landmark. Private advice has been received in Masterton that Flight-Captain George Hood and Flight-Lieutenant Moucrieff, who are in Melbourne, hope to hop off on their Right- for New Zealand on the night of Friday, December 30, if the weather is at all favourable.
