In their second innings South Africa had scored eight without losing a wicket when an appeal against the bad light was upheld and stumps were drawn. SHEFFIELD MATCH. ADELAIDE, Tuesday. In the Sheffield Shield match, Queensland i - . South Australia, Queensland in the first innings scored 256 (Thompson 37 not out, Gill 27). Bowling: Grimmett took five wickets for 86 runs, Williams two for 46, Lee two for 22. In the second innings, Queensland made .315 (O’Connor 24, Oxenhain 31, Thompson 61, Higgins 45, Xothling 07, Gill not out 21). Scott took one wicket for 57; Lee., one for 4S; Grimmett, live for 10.1; Songster,, one for 14. Grimmett once again proved his worth against Queensland, who were compelled to follow on. Xothling, who failed to get going in the first innings, played merrily all round the wicket in tho second. Thompson in both innings gave a creditable exhibition. South Australia in the second innings made .101 for two wickets (Harris not out 42, V. Richardson 57). Benstead took one wicket for 28, and Gough one for 31. South Australia won by eight wickets. The Plunket Shield match between Otago and Canterbury was started on Monday, and concluded to-day, Canterbury winning by four wickets. The scores were as follow: —Otago 204 (Eastman 38, Blunt So). TOWN BEATS COUNTEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The match between Town and Country was won by the city team by six wickets. Country who made 209 in their first innings, were dismissed for 261 in the second (Taylor 127, Gallichan 33, Newman 25, Lash 19, Gee 17). Bowling: Massey, 4/88; Cousins, 2/15; Brice, 2/35. Town, whose first innings produced 351 knocked up the required 119 runs for the loss of four wickets (Christopherson 34, Lamason ■24, Barclay 32). Bowling: Newman, 8/60; Gallichan, 1/18. '
