LIFE OF CHRIST.

AMERICAN FILM VERSION. LONDON, Thursday. An American film entitled ‘ The King of Kings,’ covering the life of Christ, was shown to a London audience, composed largely of religious leaders. Though a thousand feet were cut from the. American version in deference to English susceptibilities, there is much public opinion against a kinenia representation of Christ, particularly to additions to the Gospel story, such as Magdalene’s love affair with Judas Iscariot, apparently introduced to satisfy the supposed demand for sex appeal. The clergy present did not detect any cause for offence so far as the figure of Christ was concerned, but tiie name of the actor was not disclosed. Tiie Rev. Cyril Hackson, Precentor of Southwark Cathedral, described the Crucifixion scene as most inspiring. Others -describe tiie scourging of Christ as a harrowing scene. Tiie film ends with the Ascension, which Father Dudley, of the Roman Catholic Missionary Society, likened to tiie conclusion of a grand ballet. The actor who took the part of Christ was Mr 11. B. Warner, son of Mr Charles Warner, who earned worldwide fame in “.Dinah.”
