Many gold relies arc among the discoveries at the Ur of Chaldees, according to tho report of the joint expedition from the British museum and tiie Pennsylvania University. A Royal prince’s grave dating, probably, from 5500 8.C., contained a gold head-dress, and gold wig and nearby golden bowls, a lamp, beads, earrings, rings, silver daggers with gold hilts, gold-mounted spears and many articles of silver lapis lazuli. Other finds showed that the women once wore hair in a net woven of gold ribbons, from which hung bands of lapis cornelian. They also wore huge ear pendants. Later fashion decreed the weaving of ribbons round the tresses, which were looped over the head. The earrings were quite small. —A.P.A. and Sun.
