LEVEL CROSSING SMASH.

TRAIN HITS LORRY. THREE! PERSONS INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Three members of the same family were seriously injured and two others had remarkable escapes when a motorlorry in which they were riding was struck,by a 'train at the Argyle Street level crossing at Kingsland this afternoon. The injured arc: —Eliliu John Shaw, aged 03, of Titirangi, head injuries; Mrs Henrietta Elizabeth Shaw, aged 05, wife of Eliliu Shaw, internal injuries; Gilbert Francis Shaw, aged 25, son of the former injured, injuries to head and body. Mrs Gilbert Shaw and her three-year-old daughter were thrown out of the lorry, but escaped with a severe shaking. The party was returning from Auckland to Titirangi in a partly-laden twoton truck, which Gilbert Shaw was driving. On negotiating the crossing it was struck by a mixed train from Auckland to ITelensville. The lorry was wrecked. The driver was severely injured about the head and body. As ho fell he was struck by the train and, carried 30 feet to a spot near the cat-tle-stops. The others were hurled in all directions. The train, which was slowing up, pulled up in half its length. The three injured are reported to be in a serious condition, Gilbert Shaw being in a very critical state.
