WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. (Special to “Daily Times.”) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa .South County Council was held at Carterton on Saturday. Present: —Crs. T. V. Moore (chairman), €'. Reid, W. A. Renall, F. Court, J. Hodder, G. Foreman, D. McGregor, C. A. Cameron and F. H. C. Cotter.

The treasurer reported a debit balance of £6G7 Os lid. Receipts for the month, £377 ISs 2d. The Carterton Amateur Athletic Club asked for the use of the steam roller to roll their track on the showgrounds, the club to pay expenses. —Granted. The Bank of New Zealand approved of a bank overdraft limit of £SOOO on the County fund account. The Carrington . water race overseer reported having done general maintenance work. 'Grass has been cut back in the paddocks that are shut up, and the races kept clean. The Taratahi. water race overseer reported that during the month the intake had been cleaned out, and the big stone removed from out ot “the cut, and on Monday a full head of water was turned on. The river is still inclined to shift back to the same side as the intake. The fence round the main race has been repaired. The heavy wind on October 31st blew a lot of timber into the river, and the first fresh brought it all down to the intake. Leaks have been repaired and general cleaning carried out.
