WITH THE GUN.
GATHERING AT SOLWAY. THE PRIZE-WINNERS. About .sixty competitors took part in the £IOO handicap live pigeon shoot at Solway yesterday, in unpleasant weath- • er. There was an absence of wind, and the birds were not very lively. The following tied, killing all 12 ; birds each, and will divide the stake: — F. Seeeombe (Auckland), R. Buick (Masterton), E. Lansdell (Lumsden), H. Clinch (Potaka), R. S. Taylor (Christchurch), C. Truscott (Christ- . church), D. P. North (Whangarei), and A. McGregor (Masterton). Mr R. J. King made an admirable . secretary, and it is chiefly due to his business ability that the arrangements for the meeting are so complete. Owing to the wet weather to-day the sparrow championship was postponed, ; as the sparrows would not rise.
