VALEDICTORY.
v A DOUBLE “SEND-OFF.” A “send-off’ was given last evening, in the Mount Bruce Hall, to Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wyeth, also to Mr. and Mrs Rupert Welch, by the settlers of the district. The first-named were presented with a handsome rose bowl, and the latter with a silver entree dish.
The presentations were made by Mr. A. Reader, in a happy speech,- during which he stressed the high esteem in which the guests of the evening were held, and expressed the hope that goo 1 fortune aud happiness would attend them in their new surroundings.
Both Mr. Wyeth and Mr. Welch, in feeling responses, conv .yed their deep appreciation of what had been done for them and expressed regret over leaving a district with which they ha been associated for a long period of
years. Dancing, in which the juvenile element also took part, was then indulged irif lue hall had been artistically decorated by an energetic band of ladies. Good music, an excellent floor and a first-class supper added greatly to the enjoyment of the many persons present. Messrs. A. Daken and C. Aitken made capable M. 'sO.
