CASTLEPOINT COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Castlepoint; County Council was held in the County Ofiice at Tenui on Saturday last. Present:—Crs. G. N. limes (chairman), W. G. Groves, C. N. Stilboru, S. and E. 1-1. Schofield, H. C. Beiliss and H. B. Mnunsell. The Superintendent of the State Advances Ofiice reported that the resolution re the £2500 Manawa road loan had been descinded, and lie desired to bo furnished with a new application for the loan. The Mastcrton County Council forwarded details of cost and engineer’s report re the Waingawa bridge, and enclosed a requisition for £SO 0s 4d. —* Passed for payment. The Eketaliuna County Council enquired what steps were being taken in Tenui re the formation of an Electric Power Board, and asked if the Castlepoint County Council would appoint a representative to confer with them and’ other local bodies on the question. Resolved that as the Council are not goin<r in for the electric power scheme at present, they will not appoint a representative. The Government Insurance Department wrote drawing attention to increased benefit to workers under the Compensation Act, 1920, and supplied details re the increased rates. Approved. Messrs Hart, Hogg and Tucker forwarde dnotice of sale, etc, of J. Mayes property to T. Dillon.—The clerk was directed to place T. Dillon’s name on the rate roll. t ~, \ Tuckett’s tender for contract //, supplying 564 cubic yards of metal on the Tenui-Masterton road for £ll2 los, was accepted. It was resolved not to transfer a sum of £3 9s charged to a Riding account to the West Riding account, as frequently metal has to be obtained in one riding and used in another. Crs. S. Schofield, H. C. Beiliss and H. B. Maunsell were appointed the accounts committee. , „ The chairman and Cr. S. Schofield were empowered to deal with tendeis for the Penrose road when the necessary authority was received from the district engineer. „ _ , „ ~ Crs. W. G. Groves and E. H. Schofield were deputed to arrange for metal to be brought out of the Mangapakeha quarry and to deal with tenders for Contract No. 74b, Xlriti-Langdale road. The treasurer’s report, showing rates received since last meeting of £3306 16s 3d, was read and approved. Tlie clerk was granted leave of absence to attend the meeting of local bodies ’ officers in Wellington on February 16th. The overseer’s and rangers reports were read and adopted. Wages and accounts amounting to £1784 15s 2d were passed for payment.
