MANURE SHORTAGE.
COMMUNICATION FROM MR REAK.ES. Mr P. Hebenton, secretary of the Farmers 5 Union, has received the following telegram from Mr Reakes: “Thanks for wire of Uth and for information 1 supplied., The position created by the shortage of manures, especially superphosphate,'together with the high cost, is realised, and for some time past the Department has been active in endeavouring to assist bi relieving this position, which has been lately“accentuated by the' embargo on the shipment of- superphosphate' i roitt Australia. The Prime- Minister' has been in conimuiifcation with Australia, endeavouring to get this embargo-re-moved. A further cable was sent to the Prime Minister three' days ago, but a reply has not yet been received: I am in communication witli Waingawa. —REAKES. 55
