STRAYING HORSES.
ON ROAD AT UPPER PLAIN. ■ YOUNG MAN FINED. Bernard O 'Neil was charged at the Masterton Police Court this morning with allowing two horses to wander upon Oaks street, a- public road on the Oaks Estate, Upper Plain. Dr. Trimble appeared for the County Council.: ! ’ T: P. 0 5 fNeil, who appeared,'pleaded not guilty. • Evidence was. given by the County ranger and by the pound-keeper. Thomas Patrick O'Neil, who. enter; ed the witness box, said the horses in question; belonged to John Colquhoun, of Miki Mild. They had been sent to witness’s place for stud purposes. Wit-i ness” and his brother took all care, but no 'responsibility. The rails., in the fence may have been left down by people who went bathing in the Waingawa river. The h orses had been left in the care of witness and his brother. His Worship said defendant would be convicted and lined .10s. ami costs.
