WANGANUI NATIVES.
A RETURNED SOLDIERS , UNION

At a largo and representative gathering oil natives, held to-night, it was decided to form a Maori Returned Soldiers' Union, with the object of advancing the interests of the native race. The Mayor of Wanganui presided at the meeting, and among the speakers was the Hon. T. Ron lieu Tukino. M.L.O. During the meeting a fusion of both races was urged. The native speakers contended thai, the Maori lands mustbo made productive on a .scientific line, in order that they may be in a. position to pay rates and taxes. The. natives, they claimed, should have a useful pursuit in life, and to that end it was most desirable that there should be ;t . brtter system t> i' educating both. Maori sexes.
