STATEMENT BY FINANCE MINISTER..

Discussing the. present position of the last Victory War Loan of £10,000,000, the lion. A. M. Myers, Acting-Minis-ter of Finance, stated that since his notification, in .November last that the Treasury were prepared to accept voluntary subscriptions, an average of £400,----000 per month had been received. So, up to the present time nearly £2,500,000 had been subscribed.

Tho Minister added that tin . Treasury Department; are still prepared to accept, amounts, but. of course the compulsory clauses will be brought into operation should it bo found that the. taxpayers are not subscribing according to (he amounts specified in the Finance Act.
