PEACE OVERTURES.
A cablegram , to-day states, that Germany has made overtures through Spain offering the Allies peace on the basis of her eastern conquests. Such over*tures are in keeping with Germany's colossal impudence. If the Huns think for one moment that the Allies intend to. sacrifice. Russia, then they, are mistaken. The best reply to Germany is the .fact that the Russian army is mob. ilising. This is probably one of the facts which have caused Germany to make the overtures she has. The Allies are 'now on the box seat, and it will be their duty, to see that Russia is not sacrificed at the altar of Germanism. Furthermore, • the Allied forces in Siberia and on the Murman coast are beginning to make Germany think. Then, again, on the western front and in Italy and Albania the arms of the Central Powers are not doing well; they are faced with disaster. It is no wonder then that Germany is again compelled to throw out a peace feeler. But, as we have stated over and over again, the only peace possible is the peace which the Allies will dictate.
