GRANT HERVEY CONVICTED
THE FORGING OF A TELEGRAM
SYDNEY, Thursday. On December 31st, Grant Hervey, the well-known author, was charged in the Police Court with having falsely pretended to John Norton that he had misconducted himself on two occasions with Mrs Norton, and then made a wil-
ful false promise that he would supply
information which would enable Norton discover Mrs Norton misconducting with Hervey, by means of which '' false promise Hervey attempted to obtain from Norton £200 with intent to defraud .
At the higher court to-day, Hervey was found guilty of forging a telegram concerned in the case.
Accused pleaded not guilty, an denied "on his honour and before God" any knowledge of the telegram.
He was remanded for sentence
